Sie ist deutschen Fans schon länger ein Begriff und steht dieses Jahr im wXw „Femmes Fatales“-Turnier. Über ihre Ziele und warum der Start ihrer Karriere eher „traurig“ war, lest ihr in folgendem Interview. Viel Spaß dabei!

David (wrestling-infos.de): I am sitting here with the woman with three faces, Calypso. Before we turn to wXw, I would like to talk a bit about you. How did you get into wrestling in the first place? Calypso: I started wrestling when I was 16. I discovered wrestling because of my brother, he was playing wrestling video games. It introduced wrestling to me and I fell in love with it. So I decided to start. David (wrestling-infos.de): Tassilo Jung told me that Tristan Archer is responsible for a lot of the French wrestlers in wXw. How is the relationship between you two? Calypso: I like him a lot. Most wrestlers in France call him “uncle”. He is just about the uncle of everyone. He is really cool and gives us great advice. Furthermore, he knows how to tell me when I did something wrong. He is honest to me. That is wonderful. David (wrestling-infos.de): I tried to find out a bit about your coaches, but I did not find anything. Can you tell us who you were trained by? Calypso: I started in a small and exclusive promotion in France, “Wrestling Stars”. It is promoted by Flesh Gordon, he was a big French wrestler back then. He was one of my coaches, as was Jackie Richard. They were my coaches for three years, then I left and went to APC. I got trained there by Aigle Blanc, Rick Salem, A-Buck and Christianum. David (wrestling-infos.de): After seven years in the ring, what is the worst experience you had during that time? Calypso: My first three years in wrestling. Like I said, it was an exclusive promotion, we were not allowed to wrestle anywhere else. We had to do the same matches every weekend. It was a pretty bad experience. I wasted three years of my wrestling career doing the same match over and over again. That is really making me sad. David (wrestling-infos.de): I did check on your matches and was wondering why there always was the same match at the beginning of your career. That explains it. The next four years went better, I guess? Is there something you would consider your best experience so far? Calypso: I had plenty of good experiences. The best one? Maybe working outside of France, with other promotions. I could see the differences, make different experiences. It is fascinating to learn from everyone and to see how different countries work. David (wrestling-infos.de): You wrestled exclusively in Europe so far. Do you plan to wrestle somewhere else, too? Calypso: I would really love to go wrestling in Japan. Nothing is planned yet, but I want to do it in the near future. That is my next project. David (wrestling-infos.de): I will keep my fingers crossed. You appear as “The women with three faces”. How did this gimmick come about? Calypso: Before COVID-19, I did not really have a gimmick. It was just me wrestling. During COVID-19, I had a lot of time to think about my gimmick. That is where I found the three faces gimmick. When I was little, I used to play many plays in theater. That is where the masks come from. I put it into a gimmick to get a little mysterious. I can work face and heel with it. It is a gimmick that is very deep and mysterious, I can always do something new with it. That is what I really like about it. David (wrestling-infos.de): Do the masks have specific meanings? You were talking about face and heel. You have a good and a rather evil looking mask. Do they have a specific meaning? Calypso: In the storyline, Calypso was a very lonely girl, that was left by everyone around her. Everyone abandoned her. So she found comfort in those masks. They helped her get better and feel every emotion that she lost over time. Now she cannot go anywhere without them. David (wrestling-infos.de): Going back to APC and the French scene. How did the scene evolve since you have been active? Calypso: I am happy. When I started wrestling, there was a whole new generation of women, and it changed the women’s wrestling scene in France. Before that, it was pretty bad, there were maybe three girls wrestling there. The new generation came, did better in the ring, and it gives us many more opportunities. France and Belgium have gotten much better over the last few years. David (wrestling-infos.de): We already saw you in wXw, we saw Anastasia Bardot at “Femmes Fatales”. Who is the next French woman wXw fans should look forward to? Calypso: In the upcoming talent, there is Cory Zero. She is wrestling for around two years now. Tomorrow, she will be in the ring for “Passion Pro” in Hungary. She is just starting her career, but I think, she will go really far. She is very talented and very dedicated. David (wrestling-infos.de): Last year, you were at the title match at “Femmes Fatales”, this year in the tournament itself. Are you looking forward to it? Calypso: Totally. It is the first time I am in the tournament, so I am very excited. I hope I will have more than one match. There are many girls backstage I have never worked with. There are plenty of opportunities to talk to them backstage and learn from their experience. David (wrestling-infos.de): What do you think such an event means for the development of women’s wrestling in Europe? Calypso: I think it is important to have all women shows. There are not many women in this business. On a usual wrestling show, there are one, maybe two women’s matches. They do not get much time. To have a whole show about women is excellent because we can see so many women, different styles and gimmicks. It is essential to have those shows, especially on a big weekend like “Tag Team Festival”. David (wrestling-infos.de): You had quite a good start at wXw. Four losses, but seven wins. How satisfied are you with your run so far? Calypso: I am happy. I was not expecting to go to wXw this early in my career. When they called me, I did not feel ready at all. But they trust me and I think I am doing a good job. It was one of my goals when I started wrestling. I learn a lot from the people there. The people there are so experienced, I always ask for feedback and advice. It is one of the best promotions I have ever worked with. David (wrestling-infos.de): That goal is achieved, what would be other goals you have? Calypso: One of my goals is to win a championship. In my career, I have not won a championship yet. Maybe in wXw? That would be wonderful. I got my eyes on that Women’s Championship. David (wrestling-infos.de): You were in a title match twice yet. Calypso: I have had the opportunities. But still, winning that championship would be great. Another goal would be wrestling in the United Kingdom. I had the opportunity to work there, but due to COVID-19, it was cancelled. I would like to travel around Europe, Spain, Italy, Hungary. There are so many countries I would like to wrestle in. And my biggest goal, of course, Japan. David (wrestling-infos.de): You were speaking about countries you would like to wrestle in. Are there any opponents you would love to face? Calypso: Recently, I wanted to wrestle Lizzy Evo. I have admired her for quite some time. And Emersyn Jayne, too. But there are many, many opponents I would like to face. David (wrestling-infos.de): “Femmes Fatales” runs as port of “Tag Team Festival”. We have a mixed Tag Team in there, the “Y2Cuties”. Would that be something you would like to do in the future? You had a mixed tag team match with Tristan Archer already, a successful one. Calypso: That would be lovely. I am not too familiar with wrestling as a tag team, I mostly wrestle alone. Getting that opportunity would be outstanding, why not? I will not rule anything out. David (wrestling-infos.de): One more question about wXw. How did you get into the promotion in the first place? Was it Tristan Archer who brought you in? Calypso: They know me since “Fight for Paris 2020”, I wrestled against Amale back then. I continued my career and they stayed in contact. At some point, they called me and everything went its way. David (wrestling-infos.de): Only one question remains: is there anything you would like to tell the German fans? Calypso: I would like to thank them. I have been wrestling in Germany for around two years and the fans are always astonishing. I always have a good time with the German crowd, everyone always says how amazing the German crowds are. So, please stay like that. David (wrestling-infos.de): We are excited to see you again in Oberhausen. Hopefully, we will see you in more than one match. Calypso, thank you very much for your time. Calypso: Thank you for having me. David (wrestling-infos.de): Ich habe heute bei mir die Frau mit den drei Gesichtern, Calypso. Bevor wir über wXw sprechen, würde ich gerne ein wenig über Dich sprechen. Wie bist Du zum Wrestling gekommen? Calypso: Ich habe angefangen, als ich 16 war. Ich habe es durch meinen Bruder entdeckt, der damals ein Wrestling-Videospiel spielte. Ich habe mich direkt ins Wrestling verliebt und entschied mich, damit anzufangen. David (wrestling-infos.de): Tassilo Jung hat mir erzählt, dass Tristan Archer für viele französische Talente verantwortlich ist. Wie ist das Verhältnis zwischen Euch beiden? Calypso: Ich mag ihn von ganzem Herzen. Die meisten Wrestler in Frankreich nennen ihn „Onkel“. Er ist jedermanns Onkel. Er ist wirklich cool und gibt uns einige Tipps. Wenn ich etwas falsch gemacht habe, weiß er, wie er es mir sagen kann und ist ehrlich zu mir. Das finde ich wirklich großartig. David (wrestling-infos.de): Ich habe versucht, etwas über Deine bisherigen Trainer zu erfahren, konnte aber nichts finden. Kannst Du mal erzählen, wer Dich so trainiert hat? Calypso: Ich habe in einer kleinen, exklusiven Liga in Frankreich namens „Wrestling Stars“ begonnen. Dessen Promoter ist Flesh Gordon, der damals ein großer Name war. Er war mit Jackie Richard mein erster Trainer. Die beiden trainierten mich drei Jahre, dann ging ich zu APC. Meine Trainer dort waren Aigle Blanc, Rick Salem, A-Buch oder Christianum. David (wrestling-infos.de): Nach sieben Jahren im Ring, was würdest Du als schlimmste Erfahrung bezeichnen? Calypso: Meine ersten drei Wrestling-Jahre. Ich sagte bereits, es war eine exklusive Liga, wir durften nirgendwo sonst auftreten. Wir hatten jedes Wochenende das gleiche Match, das war natürlich schlimm. Ich habe drei Jahre meiner Karriere verschwendet, das gleiche Match wieder und wieder zu absolvieren. Eigentlich traurig. David (wrestling-infos.de): Ich hatte mal in Deine Match-Statistiken geschaut und mich schon gewundert, warum da am Anfang Deiner Karriere immer wieder das gleiche Match stand, das erklärt es aber. Die nächsten vier Jahre liefen dementsprechend besser, nehme ich an? Gibt es etwas, das Du als beste Erfahrung beschreiben würdest? Calypso: Ich hatte viele tolle Erfahrungen. Die beste? Vielleicht, außerhalb von Frankreich zu arbeiten, andere Promotionen kennenzulernen. Ich konnte die Unterschiede kennenlernen. Es ist faszinierend, von allen zu lernen und zu sehen, wie unterschiedlich gearbeitet wird. David (wrestling-infos.de): Du hast bisher nur in Europa gewrestlet. Planst Du, auch woanders aufzutreten? Calypso: Ich würde wirklich gerne durch Japan touren. Es gibt bislang keine Pläne, das möchte ich aber wirklich in naher Zukunft machen. Das wird mein nächstes Projekt. David (wrestling-infos.de): Ich drücke die Daumen! Du trittst als „Frau mit den drei Gesichtern“ auf. Wie kam es dazu? Calypso: Vor COVID-19 hatte ich kein Gimmick. Es war einfach ich, die gewrestlet hat. Während der Pandemie hatte ich viel Zeit, um über mein Gimmick nachzudenken. So bin ich darauf gekommen. Als ich klein war, habe ich viel im Theater gespielt, daher auch die Masken. Ich wollte etwas mysteriös sein. Ich kann so als Face und Heel auftreten. Mein Gimmick ist tiefgründig und mysteriös, ich kann damit stets etwas Neues erschaffen. Das ist es, was mir daran so gut gefällt. David (wrestling-infos.de): Haben die Masken eine besondere Bedeutung? Du hast über Face und Heel gesprochen. Du hast eine gut und eine eher böse aussehende Maske. Haben diese eine bestimmte Bedeutung? Calypso: In der Story ist Calypso sehr einsam, jeder hat sie verlassen. Also hat sie ihren Seelenfrieden in diesen Masken gefunden. Sie haben ihr geholfen, besser zu werden und wieder Emotionen zu fühlen. Allerdings ist sie abhängig und kann ohne die Masken nirgendwo hingehen. David (wrestling-infos.de): Lass uns mal zurück zur französischen Szene kommen. Wie hat sich diese entwickelt, seit Du aktiv im Ring stehst? Calypso: Ich bin sehr glücklich. Als ich angefangen habe, war ich Teil einer neuen Generation von Frauen, die das Frauen-Wrestling in Frankreich verändert haben. Vorher war es tatsächlich schlimm, wir hatten vielleicht drei Wrestlerinnen. Die neue Generation hat auch die Qualität hochgeschraubt, wir haben dadurch viel mehr Möglichkeiten. Frankreich und auch Belgien sind in den vergangenen Jahren viel besser geworden. David (wrestling-infos.de): Wir haben Dich bei wXw gesehen, Anastasia Bardot bei „Femmes Fatales“ ebenfalls. Wer ist die nächste Französin, auf die sich die wXw-Fans freuen dürfen? Calypso: Cory Zero. Sie steht seit zwei Jahren im Ring und wird morgen für „Passion Pro“ in Ungarn auftreten. Sie steht zwar erst am Anfang ihrer Karriere, wird aber weit kommen. Cory ist sehr talentiert und motiviert. David (wrestling-infos.de): Letztes Jahr standst Du im Titelmatch bei „Femmes Fatales“, dieses Jahr im Turnier selbst. Freust Du Dich darauf? Calypso: Total. Ich stehe zum ersten Mal im Turnier, ich bin sehr aufgeregt. Ich hoffe, dass ich mehr als ein Match haben werde. Mit vielen Mädels habe ich bislang nicht gearbeitet. Ich freue mich auf die Möglichkeit, mit ihnen backstage zu reden und von ihren Erfahrungen zu lernen. David (wrestling-infos.de): Wie bedeutsam ist ein solches Event für die Weiterentwicklung des Frauen-Wrestlings in Europa? Calypso: Es ist essenziell, Shows nur für Frauen zu haben. Es gibt nicht so viele Frauen im Wrestling. Bei einer normalen Wrestling-Show stehen ein, vielleicht zwei Frauen-Matches auf der Card. Sie bekommen nicht allzu viel Zeit. Den Frauen eine ganze Show zu widmen, ist wirklich großartig, wir können so viele Frauen, Styles und Gimmicks sehen. Diese Show ist wirklich wichtig, gerade, weil sie im Rahmen des „Tag Team Festival“ stattfindet. David (wrestling-infos.de): Dein wXw-Start war ziemlich gut. Vier Niederlagen, aber auch sieben Siege. Wie zufrieden bist Du bislang? Calypso: Sehr zufrieden. Ich habe in der Phase meiner Karriere nicht damit gerechnet, bei wXw im Ring zu stehen. Als sie mich anriefen, habe ich mich dafür nicht bereit gefühlt. Aber sie vertrauen mir und ich glaube, dass ich einen guten Job mache. wXw war eins meiner Ziele, als ich mit dem Wrestling begann. Ich lerne wirklich viel dort, frage immer nach Feedback und Ratschlägen. Es ist eine der besten Promotions, mit denen ich je zusammenarbeitete. David (wrestling-infos.de): Das Ziel hast Du also erreicht, was sind denn weitere Ziele von Dir? Calypso: Einen Titel gewinnen. In meiner ganzen Karriere hatte ich bislang nicht einen Titel. Vielleicht die wXw Women’s Championship? Das wäre großartig. Den Titel habe ich auf jeden Fall im Blick. David (wrestling-infos.de): Zweimal standst Du schon in einem Titelmatch. Calypso: Ich hatte die Möglichkeiten. Es wäre auf jeden Fall großartig. Ein weiteres Ziel ist es, im vereinten Königreich aufzutreten. Ich hatte die Möglichkeit, dort zu arbeiten, dann kam COVID-19. Ich möchte durch Europa reisen, Spanien, Italien, Ungarn. Es gibt so viele Länder, in denen ich auftreten möchte. Und, natürlich, in Japan. David (wrestling-infos.de): Du hast jetzt viele Länder angesprochen, in denen Du auftreten möchtest, wie sieht es mit Traum-Gegnern aus? Calypso: Ich würde gerne gegen Lizzy Evo antreten. Sie bewundere ich schon länger. Emersyn Jayne ebenfalls. Ach, es gibt viele Gegner, gegen die ich antreten möchte. David (wrestling-infos.de): „Femmes Fatales“ ist Teil des „Tag Team Festival“. Es gibt ein Mixed Tag Team, die Y2Cuties. Wäre das etwas, was Du Dir vorstellen könntest? Du hattest sogar schon ein Mixed Tag Team Match an der Seite von Tristan Archer, und ihr wart erfolgreich. Calypso: Das wäre toll. Ich bin nicht sehr vertraut mit Tag Team Wrestling, ich wrestle meist allein. Aber diese Möglichkeit wäre herausragend. Also warum nicht? Ich werde nichts ausschließen. David (wrestling-infos.de): Eine weitere Frage über wXw, wie ist der Kontakt zustande gekommen? Über Tristan Archer? Calypso: Sie kennen mich seit „Fight for Paris 2020“. Ich bin damals gegen Amale angetreten. Ich habe meine Karriere fortgesetzt und wir sind in Kontakt geblieben. Später riefen sich mich an, von da an ging alles seinen Weg. David (wrestling-infos.de): Letzt Frage. Möchtest Du den deutschen Fans etwas mit auf den Weg geben? Calypso: Ich möchte mich bei ihnen bedanken. Ich habe inzwischen zwei Jahre in Deutschland gewrestlet, die Fans waren immer unglaublich. Ich habe stets viel Spaß und jeder erzählt auch, wie phänomenal deutsches Publikum ist. Also, bleibt so!
