THQ Nordic und All Elite Wrestling waren in diesem Jahr bekanntlich auf der Gamescom in Köln zu Gast, um das „AEW: Fight Forever“-Games vorzustellen. Wir hatten im Rahmen der Veranstaltung die Gelegenheit, mit den AEW-Stars Colt Cabana, Evil Uno, Angelico & Peter Avalon über das „AEW: Fight Forever“-Game sowie ihre Erfahrungen in Deutschland zu sprechen. Seht, hört oder lest rein!
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Einen wunderschönen guten Tag, liebe wrestling-infos.de-Talkfreunde. Hier auf der Gamescom haben wir vier wunderbare Männer am Start. Zuerst einmal den legendären Colt Cabana, aber ich glaube, Dich nennt man im Moment „Boom Boom“.
Colt Cabana: Nicht heute, jeden Tag, immer. „Boom Boom“ Colt Cabana, toll, hier zu sein.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Als Nächstes haben wir „Pretty“ Peter Avalon. Wir haben uns sehr darauf gefreut, Dich kennenzulernen, denn wenn Du Dir [Stefans] Schnurrbart anschaust, da wächst nicht so viel. Hast Du mal einen Tipp?
Peter Avalon: Nein, der wächst so gar nicht. Wenn Du so gut aussehen willst wie Peter, benötigst Du Haarwuchsmittel auf der Oberlippe. Also besorge Dir was. Das habt ihr doch auch hier in Deutschland, oder?
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Nicht jeder. [Stefans] Mutter hat welches, er aber nicht.
Peter Avalon: Deine Mutter hat einen Schnurrbart? Wie furchtbar.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Und vorerst zuletzt, ein Mann, der prädestiniert ist für die „Gamescom“: Evil Uno, wie geht es Dir?
Evil Uno: Danke, danke, mir geht es großartig. Ich bin in meinem Element, wie Du gesagt hast. Die „Gamescom“, sehr cool. Evil Uno, auch cool.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Ich habe zudem gehört, Evil Uno ist sehr heiß.
Evil Uno: Das ist wahr, beide Bedeutungen. Momentan schwitze ich sogar.
Colt Cabana: Nur zur Information, wenn Dich jemand fragt, wie es Dir geht, sagst Du ‚Evil‘. Du hast es versaut.
Evil Uno: Verdammt! Ich merke es mir für das nächste Mal.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Wir haben schon mit Dave sprechen können und waren erstaunt, auf wie viele Details eingegangen wurde und wie viel Leidenschaft in dem Spiel steckt. Habt ihr es schon anspielen können?
Evil Uno: Ja, ich habe auf der „Gamescom“ schon viel mit der Demo probiert. Die Animationen sind einfach toll, das fühlt sich richtig nostalgisch an. Eine Engine, die an die Wrestling-Spiele erinnert, die ich als jüngerer Mann gespielt habe. Dieses arcadige Gefühl wieder in einem Wrestling-Spiele zu haben, ist sehr aufregend!
Peter Avalon: Ja, es macht viel Spaß. Ich habe ein wenig gespielt, ich habe auch schon verloren. Es gibt eine Lernkurve, aber ja, es macht Spaß.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Da kann ich mitreden. Ich wurde mit Adam Cole von Thunder Rosa gepinnt.
Peter Avalon: Ich war Adam Cole und wurde von Kenny Omega besiegt. Vielleicht sollte man einfach nicht Adam Cole auswählen. (lacht)
Colt Cabana: Ich habe mit Kenny Omega gespielt und habe gegen Aubrey [Edwards] verloren. Das war hart, aber beeindruckend, wie stark sie in dem Spiel dargestellt wird.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Ja, sie wird sehr prominent präsentiert.
Colt Cabana: Sie ist der Star von AEW, darum präsentieren wir sie derart.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Was gefällt Euch an dem Spiel am besten?
Colt Cabana: Justin Roberts. Mein alter Freund Justin Roberts, den ich kenne, seit ich 18 Jahre alt bin. Ihn die Wrestler:innen ankündigen zu hören, ist so cool.
Peter Avalon: Mir gefallen die Signaturen.
Colt Cabana: Warte, man kann im Spiel ein Autogramm bekommen?
Peter Avalon: Ja, Du kannst Autogramme bekommen. (lacht) Nein, die Signatur-Bewegungen. Es gibt so viele davon, nicht nur eine einzige. Das finde ich sehr cool.
Evil Uno: Ich empfinde es als schön, dass Excalibur endlich einem Spiel seine Stimme verleihen kann. Er und ich haben viel miteinander erlebt, er ist auch sehr drin in der Welt der Videospiele, es ist toll, ihn als Teil eines Spiels zu sehen.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Das kann ich mir vorstellen. Als Gamer gibt es abseits von THQ Nordic noch Spiele, die Du ausprobieren möchtest?
Evil Uno: Auf der „Gamescom“? Ich möchte „Gotham Knights“ spielen. Ich bin ein großer Batman-Fan. Das Spiel zu testen, ist eine große Sache für mich. Ich habe schon „Pentiment“ beim XBOX-Stand gespielt, das macht sehr viel Spaß. Ich möchte noch „Lies of P“ ausprobieren. Das ist so das, was ich die nächsten Tage vorhabe.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Gute Auswahl. Peter?
Peter Avalon: Es gibt viele Spiele, die es wert sind, getestet zu werden. Am Donnerstag gibt es etwas wie ein Heavy Metal-Konzert mit verschiedenen Bands. Ich denke, das werde ich mir ansehen. Das sieht stark aus.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Doof, dass ich nur heute hier bin. Colt Cabana, wie sieht es bei Dir aus?
Colt Cabana: Ich möchte unbedingt das „SpongeBob“-Spiel ausprobieren.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Ich auch. Und „Rat’s Quest“.
Colt Cabana: Danach hatte ich mich schon erkundigt! Ein Rattenspiel, das will ich spielen. Und ich bin „Fall Guys“-Meister. Ich bin der beste „Fall Guys“-Wrestler aller Zeiten. Sie spielen es hier um 17 Uhr. Da werde ich sein und jedem zeigen, dass ich der Beste bin.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Können Fans Dich mit „Fall Guys“ auch auf Twitch erwarten, wenn Du wieder in den USA bist?
Colt Cabana: Ja, ich habe auch schon auf Twitch gespielt. Eines Tages bekommen wir bestimmt auch das „Fall Guys“/AEW-Crossover. Da sehe ich mich dann.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Hoffentlich! Ich würde ununterbrochen als „Boom Boom“ spielen. Ihr werdet die nächsten Tage auch im Ring antreten. Das ist dann Dein Deutschland-Debüt.
Peter Avalon: Ja, das stimmt. Ich war noch nie hier, aber ich freue mich sehr, hier zu sein und auch ein wenig zu bleiben.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Hast Du Deine Kollegen gefragt, was in Deutschland auf Dich zukommt?
Peter Avalon: Natürlich nicht, ich habe Google befragt. Warum sollte ich diese Nerds fragen? Ich habe gegoogelt, was ich wissen wollte.
Evil Uno: Und was kam heraus?
Peter Avalon: Na ja, am Ende hab’ ich sie doch gefragt. (lacht)
Colt Cabana: Er hat uns gefragt, wie er Google benutzt. Das wusste er nicht.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Wie lange ist es bei Euch her, dass ihr in Deutschland im Ring standet?
Evil Uno: Das letzte Mal, dass ich in Deutschland war, war 2015.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Das ist lange her.
Evil Uno: Das stimmt!
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Es ist toll, Euch hier bei der „Gamescom“ im Ring zu sehen, aber wir würden Euch natürlich auch gerne so wieder in Deutschland sehen. Vielleicht bei einer deutschen Liga oder sogar bei einem AEW Live-Event. Wäre das nichts für Euch?
Evil Uno: Ich entscheide nicht, wo AEW auftritt, aber wenn mich jemand für eine Indie-Show buchen möchte, kann er das jederzeit tun.
Colt Cabana: 2004 kam ich hierher und bin bei wXw aufgetreten. Dort habe ich einige Jahr verbracht. Ich kämpfte gegen den damals 17 Jahre alten Gunther, er hieß damals noch Big van Walter. Ich habe viel in Deutschland erlebt und habe Robbie Brookside, Bad Bones [John Klinger] und viele europäische Toptalente im Ring getroffen. Es ist toll, wieder hier zu sein. Es ist zwar keine Live-Show, aber wir treten für AEW auf, um die Liga und das Spiel zu repräsentieren. Aber klar, wir alle reisen umher, das ist das Tolle an AEW. Wir können alle verschiedene Termine wahrnehmen. Dennoch, heute ist es toll, hier zu sein und AEW zu vertreten.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Ihr scheint hier viel Spaß zu haben. Ist das eine besondere Veranstaltung für Euch oder könnt ihr das mit Auftritten in der Vergangenheit vergleichen?
Peter Avalon: Ehrlich gesagt, nein. Es ist besonders, weil es auch einfach ein besonderer Ort ist. Es ist einmalig.
Evil Uno: Ich war schon auf Comic Cons und auf Anime-Conventions, aber es ist meine erste Gaming-Convention. Dann noch in dieser Größe. Das ist etwas, was auf meiner „Bucket List“ stand. E3, „Gamescom“, Tokyo Game Show. Die drei wollte ich mein ganzes Leben schon besuchen. Ich bin nicht nur hier, um AEW zu repräsentieren, sondern steige hier auch noch in den Ring. Das ist schon cool.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Wenn die Fans „Fight Forever“ endlich in Händen halten, was würdet ihr ihnen raten?
Evil Uno: Spielt das Spiel.
Colt Cabana: Da hast Du den Nagel auf den Kopf getroffen.
Peter Avalon: Vorher sollten sie es aber auspacken und in die entsprechende Spielkonsole stecken.
Evil Uno: Ja, aber ernsthaft, spielt es. Und wenn ihr es spielt, schaut Euch zuerst die Signatur-Manöver und die Finisher an. Es gibt so viele Variationen. Schaut Euch Kenny Omegas Move List an, da gibt es so viel mehr, als ihr erwartet. Verschiedene Versionen des Dragon Suplex, des V Triggers oder des „One Winged Angels“. Wenn ihr einen Liebling habt, schaut Euch dessen Move List an.
Peter Avalon: Es gibt wirklich viel zu entdecken.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Letzte Frage für Dich, Colt. Wir haben es noch nicht testen können, aber es gibt auch Mini-Games. Hast Du sie getestet? Wie sind sie? Lustig aussehen tun sie ja.
Colt Cabana: Ja, das Konzept ist wirklich lustig, es ist toll, dass so etwas im AEW-Spiel ist. Ich habe sie gespielt und halte es für großartig, dass man nicht nur ein Match oder ein Tag Team Match auswählen kann. Ich finde die Idee toll.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Angelico, was denkst Du über das Spiel?
Angelico: Ich denke, es ist großartig. Es ist toll, wieder so ein „Old School“-Gefühl zu haben. Es erinnert an die besten Generationen von Wrestling-Spielen, die wir hatten und wird das nächste großartige Spiel. Ich kann es nicht erwarten, dass es herauskommt.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Ich auch nicht. Noch etwas, was Du den deutschen Fans mit auf den Weg geben möchtest?
Angelico: Klar! Ihr seid wundervolle Leute und ich möchte Euch dafür danken, dass ihr so unvergleichliche Fans von AEW seid.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Einfach herzerwärmend, ihr seid so liebenswert. Aber unsere Zeit neigt sich wohl dem Ende zu, meine Herren. Also, vielen Dank für das Interview und habt eine tolle Zeit bei der „Gamescom“! Kommt bald wieder nach Deutschland.
Angelico: Ja, hoffentlich in absehbarer Zeit. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, wieder hierherzukommen. Genießt das Spiel, wenn es herauskommt.

Colt Cabana: Not this day, every day, always. „Boom Boom“ Colt Cabana, great to be here.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): And there we have „Pretty“ Peter Avalon. We are so excited to meet you because if you look at this mustache, it’s not growing that well. So, we want some tips from you!
Peter Avalon: No, not at all. If you want to be pretty like Peter, I expect a bit of hair growth stuff on that upper lip. So just get to it. They have it here in Germany, I think, right?
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Not everyone has. [Stefan’s] mother has, he doesn’t.
Peter Avalon: Oh, your mom has a mustache? That’s terrible.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Last, but not least, the man who is destined for „Gamescom“, I might say. Evil Uno, how are you today?
Evil Uno: Thank you, thank you. I am great, I’m in my element, as you just said. „Gamescom“, very cool. Evil Uno, very cool.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): And I also heard, Evil Uno is very hot in Germany.
Evil Uno: It’s true. In both senses of the word. I am sweating right now.
Colt Cabana: For the record, the answer to ‚How are you?‘ is ‚Evil!‘, so you messed it up.
Evil Uno: Ah, dang! Dang, I’ll take not for next time.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): We already had a chance to talk to Dave. We were amazed by all the little details and all the passion put into the game. Did you already have the chance to play it?
Evil Uno: Yes, I definitely have put some time into our demo build that we have here at „Gamescom“. I am very, delighted to see the handcrafted animations and seeing what to me feels like nostalgia. It feels like an engine built off the games that I loved as a younger man, and I am very excited just to see that arcade feeling come back to the wrestling games.
Peter Avalon: Yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I played for a bit, a lot of fun. I lost already, so there’s some learning curve to it, but it’s a lot of fun.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): I can relate to that. I played as Adam Cole and got pinned by Thunder Rosa.
Peter Avalon: I was Adam Cole and I got pinned by Kenny Omega. So maybe just don’t pick Adam Cole (laughs).
Colt Cabana: I actually played as Kenny Omega, and I lost to Aubrey [Edwards]. Yeah, it was rough, but it’s impressive that she’s so tough in the game.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Yeah, but I think she’s presented pretty heavily.
Colt Cabana: Yeah, she is the number one star of AEW and that is why we present her so heavily, of course.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): What is your most favorite part of the game?
Colt Cabana: I’ll say Justin Roberts, my good friend Justin Roberts, who I’ve known since I was 18 years old. To hear him announce the competitors is so cool.
Peter Avalon: I really like the signatures.
Colt Cabana: Wait, you can get autographs in the game?
Peter Avalon: Yeah, you can get an autograph (laughs). No, the signature maneuvers. It’s fun that there are a bunch of them, you know? It isn’t just one. That is really cool.
Evil Uno: I think it’s very neat to just see Excalibur finally get to voice over a video game on top of everything. I and him have a very storied past together, and he has a very long history of video games, so it’s quite neat to finally see him be involved in one. It’s very, very cool to see my friend in the game.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): I can imagine that. Since you are a gamer yourself, is there something you are intrigued about to see besides the portfolio of THQ Nordic.
Evil Uno: Oh, as far as at „Gamescom“? We were in the process of going to do this just beforehand, but I want to go play „Gotham Knights“. I’m a big, big Batman guy. To get my chance to play that game before it comes out is pretty big for me. I’ve also played some „Pentiment“ at the Xbox Booth. I would suggest playing that, that’s a fun one. And I want to try „Lies Of P“ which is that „Bloodborne Pinocchio“ game? Those are the ones that I have on my table for the next couple of days.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Good choice! Peter?
Peter Avalon: All right, there are plenty of cool games worth checking out, but there’s something on Thursday that’s like a heavy metal concert with several bands. I believe I will check that out. That looks badass. A big metal show. Yeah, sounds really cool.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): It’s a pity that I am just here today. Colt Cabana, is there anything you are very intrigued about?
Colt Cabana: I’m desperate to play the „SpongeBob“-game right here.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Oh, me too. And also „Rat’s Quest“.
Colt Cabana: I asked about it! There is a rat game and I want to play it. And I am the master of „Fall Guys“. I am the greatest professional wrestling „Fall Guys“ player of all time. They’re playing it over there at I think 5 o’clock. I plan on being there and dominating and showing everybody here that I am the best.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): When you’re back home, can the fans expect you to play „Fall Guys“ on Twitch?
Colt Cabana: Yeah, I’ve I played on Twitch before. And eventually, we’ll get that AEW/Fall Guys crossover and that is where I will be.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Hopefully! I would play as „Boom Boom“ all the time. You guys will be heading into the ring over the next few days. And I guess it’s your Germany debut.
Peter Avalon: It is, yes. I’ve never been here, so I’m excited to be here and stick around for a bit.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Did you ask your pals right here who have experienced standing in a ring in Germany about the crowd?
Peter Avalon: Absolutely not. I went to Google. Why would I ask these nerds? I googled what I needed to know.
Evil Uno: What was the answer?
Peter Avalon: Well, I just ended up asking them anyway. (laughs)
Colt Cabana: He asked us how to use Google, actually. He didn’t know.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): How long has it been for you two since you stood in a ring in Germany?
Evil Uno: Last time I came to Germany was 2015.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): That’s that’s a long time.
Evil Uno: It is a long time!
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): I think it’s more than worthy to present you at „Gamescom“. We would love to also see you back in Germany, maybe in a German promotion or even better at a live event of AEW. Would you be interested in that?
Evil Uno: I do not make the decisions as far as where AEW wrestles, but if you want to get me on an independent show, you absolutely can.
Colt Cabana: Yeah, yeah, yeah. In 2004, I came over and wrestled with wXw and wrestled with them for years. I wrestled Gunther when he was, I think, 17 years old. His name was Big van Walter. I have a storied history here in Germany, including, you know, wrestling Robbie Brookside and Bad Bones [John Klinger] and just all the top European talent. It’s nice to be back here this time. I mean, I know it’s not an AEW live show, but it’s with AEW. And I think that’s a cool place to be able to come back and be here in Germany and to be here with AEW representing the company in the video game. But yeah, I think we all travel around. That’s the great thing about AEW. We’re allowed to do different ventures too. However, the whole point is, we represent the team, and we represent the company.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): You guys seem to have a lot of fun right here. I guess this is a special occasion for you. Is this something you could compare to experiences from the past?
Peter Avalon: Honestly, no. This is a unique experience because it’s in a unique place for me. This is just one of a kind. I’m excited to be here and experience it. And it’s wonderful.
Evil Uno: I’ve done comic cons and Anime conventions, but this will be my first gaming convention, and especially one of such stature. I had mentioned earlier, this is a bucket list item for me. E3, „Gamescom“, Tokyo game show were three things I wanted to do for some time in my life. So to not only be here and represent AEW, represent our game, but also to get to wrestle at „Gamescom“ is a very, very cool thing for me.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): When the fans get their hands on the game, what would you tell them to do right away?
Evil Uno: Play the game.
Colt Cabana: Nailed it, nailed it!
Peter Avalon: Well, well, well. Unwrap it. Open the box, put it in the thing.
Evil Uno: Yeah, but definitely play it. If you do get the chance to play the game, take a look at the signature maneuvers and the finishers as well because it’s very varied. There is a lot of variety. Check out Kenny Omega’s move list because there is a lot more stuff than you would anticipate. You have the option to do all of his moves as dragon Suplex, multiple versions of the V trigger and multiple versions of the „One Winged Angel“. I would recommend if you have a favorite, pick your favorite and start looking at the move sets.
Peter Avalon: It’s a lot to do, it’s spectacular.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Last Question for you, Colt. It is about the mini-games, we did not have the chance to play them. Did you do, and how are they? They look fun.
Colt Cabana: Yeah, I think that’s a fun concept, and I think it’s so cool to add it into the AEW game. I played them, they’re very fun, and it’s just, it’s just cool that you can do, I guess, something different from just a match or a tag team match or whatever it is. And I love the idea.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Angelico, what is your opinion on the game?
Angelico: I think it’s great. I think it’s absolutely incredible going back old school to the best generations of wrestling games and this looks like it’s going to be like the next great wrestling game, so I can’t wait for it to come out.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): Me too. Do you want to say something to the German fans?
Angelico: Yes! You’re all wonderful people, and thank you for being such unbelievable fans of AEW wrestling.
Marko (wrestling-infos.de): It’s so heartwarming, you guys are so adorable. But I guess that is enough of your time, gentlemen. Thank you very much for having us, and I hope you have a great time here at „Gamescom“. Explore some games, have fun in the ring, and hopefully come back to Germany soon.
