Killer Kelly kehrt endlich wieder zur wXw zurück und nimmt im Femmes Fatales-Event teil. Im Vorfeld durften wir ihr ein paar Fragen stellen. Wie fühlt es sich an zurück in der Wrestling-Welt zu sein, wie war ihre Zeit bei WWE und was plant sie als Nächstes? Lest rein!
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Du hast fast ein Jahr lang pausiert, um dich zu erholen. Wie fühlst du dich jetzt, wo du zum Wrestling zurückkehrst?
Killer Kelly: Um 100% ehrlich zu sein, bin ich nervöser als je zuvor. Meine Karriere war ein riesiges „Stop and Go“, und dann hatte ich diese sehr lange Pause. Ich habe immer noch mit Atemproblemen zu kämpfen, weil ich nicht die invasivere Operation bekommen habe, die ich gebraucht hätte. Aber ich arbeite daran. Ich spüre diesen enormen Druck, aber das liegt an mir. Ich erwarte viel von mir, und ich möchte, dass die Fans die bestmögliche Version von mir zu sehen bekommen. Ich freue mich sehr, zurück zu sein, bin aber auch ein nervöser Stressball.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Du hast gerade dein Comeback/Debüt bei Impact Wrestling gegeben. Wir sehen eine Veränderung in deinem Stil und deiner Einstellung. Was macht die neue Killer Kelly aus?
Killer Kelly: Diese Veränderung hat sich schon vor langer Zeit abgezeichnet. Ich habe immer versucht, diese Killer Kelly hervorzubringen, aber das Timing war nicht ganz richtig. Ich bin es jetzt mehr denn je. Ich fühle mich so wohl wie noch nie und zeige das, was ich in meinem Kopf bin.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Wirst Du mit Deinem neuen Gimmick auch Deinen Namen ändern?
Killer Kelly: Das wird nie passieren. Ich bin als „Kelly“ zum Wrestling gekommen und habe von den portugiesischen Fans den Beinamen „Killer“ erhalten. Den werde ich immer bei mir tragen, und er passt jetzt sogar noch besser zu mir.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Was sind deine Ziele bei Impact?
Killer Kelly: Ich will Champion werden, egal was passiert.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Was wäre dein Lieblingsgegner/Fehdenpartner bei Impact?
Killer Kelly: Ich denke, ich und Masha haben Potential… Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass sich unsere Wege in der Zukunft kreuzen und wir uns vielleicht sogar zusammentun.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Du hast bei den Mae Young Classics der WWE und für die NXT-Brand gewrestlet. Wie würdest du deine Zeit in der WWE beschreiben?
Killer Kelly: Ich habe eine Menge gelernt. Im Ring, Backstage, etc. Ich habe sehr viel gelernt. Und ich habe nur Gutes zu sagen. Es war mein Kindheitstraum, Wrestlerin bei der WWE zu werden, und ich habe es geschafft. Als erste portugiesische Frau habe ich es geschafft. Die 7-jährige kleine Killer Kelly ist sehr stolz.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Du hast seit 2020 nicht mehr für wXw gearbeitet. Wie fühlt es sich an, zurück zu kommen?
Killer Kelly: Ich komme endlich wieder nach Hause. Ich vermisse wXw so sehr, und ich schulde wXw so viel. Sie haben mir geholfen, die zu sein, die ich bin, und ich kann es kaum erwarten, wieder bei meiner Familie zu sein.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Gegen welche aktuellen wXw-Wrestler, gegen die du noch nicht angetreten bist, würdest du gerne mal wrestlen?
Killer Kelly: Vom aktuellen wXw Women’s Roster habe ich bisher nur gegen Baby Allison gekämpft, und ich würde es gerne noch einmal versuchen. Ich kann mit ihrer Verrücktheit mithalten. Aber ich habe noch gegen keine der anderen Frauen gekämpft, also würde ich gerne gegen alle antreten. Und warum nicht auch in der Männer Division?
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Werden wir in Zukunft mehr von dir in der wXw, oder generell in Deutschland, sehen?
Killer Kelly: Wenn es nach mir ginge, würde ich fast jedes Wochenende bei der wXw sein. Also, verdammt ja.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Worauf freust du dich am meisten beim diesjährigen Femmes Fatales und World Tag Team Festival?
Killer Kelly: ENDLICH Femme Fatales zu gewinnen. Und vielleicht bald um die Women’s Championship zu kämpfen…? 2-fache wXw Women’s Champion klingt sehr gut.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Wen würdest du als Tag Team-Partner für das Tag Tournament wählen?
Killer Kelly: Auf jeden Fall Masha Slamovich. Wenn also ein Team ausscheidet, bin ich mir ziemlich sicher, sie wäre dabei.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Du hast schon in vielen Ländern und für verschiedene Promotionen gearbeitet, welche liegen dir am meisten am Herzen?
Killer Kelly: Deutschland, Japan, USA und Portugal. Portugal, weil es mein Land ist und es sich gut angefühlt hat, zurückzukommen und zu wrestlen, während ich einen WWE-Vertrag hatte. Deutschland, weil es meine zweite Heimat ist und ich ohne den Umzug dorthin nicht da wäre, wo ich jetzt bin. USA, weil dort ein Kindheitstraum in Erfüllung ging und Japan, weil es SURREAL war.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Siehst du eine Entwicklung in der portugiesischen Wrestling-Szene?
Killer Kelly: Es gibt einen Haufen neuer Talente, die hungrig sind, zu wrestlen und zu zeigen, was sie können. Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass sie ihr Bestes geben werden, um Portugal auf den Plan zu bringen. Am 23. Oktober hat Wrestling Portugal eine Show, also ein guter Zeitpunkt, um diesen Aufstieg zu beginnen!
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Dein Match gegen Allysin Kay bei Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport war für viele Fans ein Highlight. Was hältst du von dem Bloodsport-Konzept?
Killer Kelly: Das ganze Match fühlte sich wie ein Traum an, aus dem ich nie wieder aufwachen wollte. Ich fühlte mich wirklich geehrt, Teil einer solchen Show und eines solchen Konzepts zu sein, und von Josh Barnett ausgewählt zu werden, war das Sahnehäubchen auf dem Kuchen. Es ist eine so gut gemachte Show, die eine ganz andere Ebene des Wettkampfs bietet. Es sollte das Ziel eines jeden Wrestlers sein.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Können wir hoffen, dich in Zukunft wieder bei GCW/Bloodsport zu sehen?
Killer Kelly: Auf jeden Fall. Ich bin immer dabei.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Du hast dich auf Twitter über deine psychische Gesundheit geäußert. Wie war die Reaktion darauf?
Killer Kelly: Es war besser, als ich erwartet hatte. Ich habe mich sehr geliebt gefühlt und hatte das Gefühl, dass ich jemandem geholfen habe, sich bei seinem eigenen Kampf wohl zu fühlen.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Hat sich für dich etwas verändert, nachdem du dich geöffnet hast?
Killer Kelly: Ich habe mich mehr gesehen und verstanden gefühlt. Jetzt können die Leute rund um die Uhr sehen, was in mir vorgeht und respektieren mich ein bisschen mehr. Aber der Teil, der wirklich zählt, ist das Verständnis.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Wird im Locker Room über mentale Gesundheit gesprochen?
Killer Kelly: Ich habe nicht das Gefühl, dass darüber gesprochen wird, aber es ist „bekannt“. Die Leute wissen, was los ist und sie respektieren die Menschen, ihre Kämpfe und ihre Privatsphäre.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Was sind deine Ziele im Wrestling insgesamt – wohin möchtest du reisen, gegen wen möchtest du antreten?
Killer Kelly: Ich möchte IMPACT Champion werden, noch einmal wXw Women’s Champion, nach Japan reisen und gegen jeden antreten. Insgesamt möchte ich im Wrestling glücklich werden.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Wenn du eine weitere Tour in Japan machen könntest, wer wäre dein Traumgegner – männlich, weiblich, jede Promotion?
Killer Kelly: Ich würde gerne zu STARDOM gehen und gegen Donna del Mondo antreten. Und mich ihnen dann irgendwann anschließen. Aber mein Ziel ist es, mit Suzuki ODER Shibata in einem NJPW-Ring zusammenzuarbeiten. Das wäre dann DER TRAUM.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): You took a break to heal for almost a year. How do you feel being back to wrestling?
Killer Kelly: To be 100% honest, I feel more nervous than ever. My career as been a huge “stop and go”, and then I had this very long break. I’m still dealing some breathing issues because I didn’t get the more invasive surgery that I needed. But I’m working around it. I feel this huge pressure on my back, but that’s on me. I expect a lot from myself, and I want the fans to have the better version possible. I’m very happy to be back, yet I’m a nervous anxiety ball.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): You just made your Comeback/Debut at Impact wrestling. We see a change in your style and attitude. What is the new Killer Kelly all about?
Killer Kelly: This change was coming a long while ago. I’ve always tried to bring out this Killer Kelly, but the timing wasn’t quite right. It’s ME more now than ever. The most comfortable I’ve ever been, and what I am inside my brain.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Will you change your name with your new gimmick?
Killer Kelly: That will never happen. I entered wrestling as just “Kelly”, and I gained the “Killer” from the Portuguese fans. I’ll forever carry that with me, and it suits me even more now.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): What are your goals in Impact?
Killer Kelly: I will become a champion, no matter what.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): What would be your favorite opponent/feud partner in Impact?
Killer Kelly: I think me and Masha have potential… I can see our paths crossing in the future, and even maybe joining forces.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): You’ve wrestled in WWE’s Mae Young Classics and for the NXT-Brand. How would you describe your time in WWE?
Killer Kelly: A lot of learning. It being in ring, backstage, etc. I learned A LOT. And I have nothing but good things to say. It was my childhood dream to become a professional wrestler for WWE, and I did. First Portuguese woman to do it. 7-year-old little Killer Kelly is very proud.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): You haven’t worked for wXw since 2020. How does it feel to come back?
Killer Kelly: I’m finally coming back home. I miss wXw so much, and I owe wXw so much. They helped me being who I am, and I can’t wait to be back to my family.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Which current wXw wrestlers you haven’t faced yet would you like to wrestle against?
Killer Kelly: From the current wXw Women’s roster I’ve only faced Baby Allison, and I’d like to give it a go again. I can match her craziness. But I haven’t faced any of the other woman, so I’d like to say all of them. And why not the man’s division as well?
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Will we see more of you in wXw, or Germany in general, again in the future?
Killer Kelly: If it was for me, I’d be in wXw almost every weekend. So, hell yeah.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): What are you looking for the most in this year’s Femmes Fatales and World Tag Team Festival?
Killer Kelly: To FINALLY win Femme Fatales. And maybe challenge for the women’s championship soon..? 2-time wXw Women’s Champion sounds very good.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Who would you choose as a tag team partner to participate in the Tag Tournament?
Killer Kelly: Definitely Masha Slamovich. So if a team decides to drop out, I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t mind it.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): You have already worked in several countries and for various promotions, which of these was or is most special to you?
Killer Kelly: Germany, Japan, USA and Portugal. Portugal because it is my country, and it felt good coming back and wrestling while under a WWE contract. Germany because it’s my second home and without moving there I wouldn’t be where I am. USA because it was a childhood dream that came true and Japan because it was SURREAL.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Do you see a development in Portugal’s wrestling scene?
Killer Kelly: There’s a bunch of new talent hungry to wrestle and showcase what they got. I’m pretty sure they’ll do their best to put Portugal on the map. And October 23rd Wrestling Portugal has a show, so it’s a great time to begin that ascension!
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Your match against Allysin Kay on Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport was a highlight for many fans. How do you feel about the Bloodsport concept?
Killer Kelly: The whole match felt like a dream I never wanted to wake up from. I felt really honored to be part of such a show and concept, and to be chosen by Josh Barnett was the icing on top of the cake. It’s such a well-done show and brings a whole other level of competition. It should be a goal of every wrestler.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Can we hope to see you again with GCW/Bloodsport in the future?
Killer Kelly: Definitely. Always count me in.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): You opened up on Twitter about your mental health. How was the reaction?
Killer Kelly: It was better than I expected. It made me feel very loved and like I actually helped someone feel comfortable in their own battles.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Did anything change for you after opening up?
Killer Kelly: I felt more seen and understood. Now people can see what’s on my mind 24/7 and respect me a little bit more. But the part that really counts it’s the understanding part.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): Is mental health talked about in the locker room?
Killer Kelly: I don’t feel like it’s talked about, but its “known”. People know what’s happening and they respect people, their battles and privacy.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): What are your goals in wrestling overall – where do you want to travel, who do you want to face?
Killer Kelly: I want to become IMPACT champion, wXw Women’s champion once again, travel to Japan and face everyone. Overall, I want to be happy within Wrestling.
Katha (Wrestling-Infos.de): If you could do another tour in Japan, whom would be your dream opponent – male, female, any promotion?
Killer Kelly: I’d love to go to STARDOM and face Donna del Mondo. And then eventually join them. But the goal is to team up with Suzuki OR Shibata in a NJPW ring. That would be THE DREAM.
