Wrestling hatten wir die Möglichkeit mit dem Shootingstar der Knockouts Division „The Russian Dynamite“ Masha Slamovich zu besprechen, die spätestens seit ihrem kürzlichen wXw-Auftritt auch für viele deutsche Fans keine Unbekannte mehr ist. In der Independent-Szene sorgte sie bereits seit einiger Zeit überall auf der Welt für Staunen. Was die kraftgeladene Russin über ihre dominanten Auftritte, ihre bisherige Karriere, AEW Women´s Champion Thunder Rosa und anderen Themen zu sagen hat, erfahrt ihr nur hier im großen Wrestling-Infos.de Exklusivinterview mit „The Russian Dynamite“ Masha Slamovich!
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Meine Damen und Herren, es ist mir ein Vergnügen, Ihnen die junge Dame vorzustellen, die Sie auf dem Bildschirm neben mir sehen können. Sie ist eine Weltreisende und bekannt unter ihrem Spitznamen „Russian Dynamite“ Masha Slamovich! Wie geht es dir heute?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Mir geht es gut, wie geht es dir?
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Mir geht es auch gut, danke. Ich weiß, dass du deine Karriere in Japan begonnen hast, aber wie kann ich mir deinen bisherigen Weg vorstellen?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Bis zu meinem Debüt in Japan habe ich eineinhalb Jahre lang in New York mit Johnny Rodz trainiert. Dann wurde ich dorthin geschickt, um mein Debüt zu geben und meine Reise anzutreten. Von da an bis zum Jahr 2020 habe ich hauptsächlich in der Independent-Szene gewrestlet, vor allem in Kanada, der Dominikanischen Republik, Puerto Rico, Russland und natürlich ein wenig in den Vereinigten Staaten. Im Jahr 2020 kehrte ich für ein ganzes Jahr nach Japan zurück, um dort im Dojo mit Chigusa Nagayo zu ringen und zu trainieren. Und natürlich, wie du weißt, kam ich 2021 zurück in die Vereinigten Staaten und der Rest war Geschichte.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Wie bist du bei Impact gelandet? Wie kam der Kontakt entstanden?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Das erste Mal, dass ich mit Impact gearbeitet habe, war im Jahr 2019. Ich habe mit Jessica Havoc gerungen und am nächsten Abend mit Jordynne Grace, und seitdem haben sich unsere Wege getrennt, bis Mickie James mich als „Pick Your Poison“-Match für Deonna beim letzten Knockouts Knockdown ausgewählt hat. Nach dem Ende dieses Matches kam es für mich überraschend, aber Gail Kim kam zum Ring und bot mir einen Vertrag bei Impact an. Natürlich habe ich angenommen, und so bin ich bei Impact gelandet, verstehst du? Das ging alles sehr schnell, innerhalb von 15 Minuten.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Das ist wie ein wahr gewordener Traum, denke ich.
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Auf jeden Fall, man sieht, wie es anderen Leuten passiert, aber man denkt nie, dass man es selbst sein wird.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Was mich interessiert ist, da du viel in Japan gerungen hast.
Es gibt da einen Unterschied, in Japan wird der Aspekt des Kayfabe ein bisschen mehr verehrt oder versucht zu schützen als in den USA. Hattest du Schwierigkeiten, dich darauf einzustellen, zum Beispiel wenn du in den Supermarkt gehst und nicht versuchst, den Heel zu spielen?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Wie du schon sagtest, es ist definitiv eine etwas andere Kultur drüben in Japan, aber ich hatte nicht wirklich Probleme, mich daran zu gewöhnen, weil, wie ich sagte, meine Karriere dort begann. Es ist fast so, als wäre die Art und Weise, wie sie es dort machen, die Norm für mich, denn das war meine allererste Erfahrung mit professionellem Wrestling.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Als du in die USA zurückkamst, hattest du Probleme, dich nicht Kayfabe zu verhalten?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Ich meine, ich habe ein bisschen Zeit gebraucht, um mich zu entspannen und nicht so ernst zu sein, wie wir es drüben mit dem Dojo-Lifestyle sind.
Ich habe eine Weile gebraucht, um in meinen Rhythmus zu kommen und mich zu entspannen und die Masha Slamovich zu sein, die jetzt jeder kennt.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Da wir bereits darüber gesprochen haben, dass du die ganze Welt bereist hast, welches war der interessanteste Ort für dich, an dem du warst oder an dem du gerungen hast?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Ich würde sagen, dass der interessanteste Ort der Norden Kanadas war, weil die Winter Death Tour, wie die Icy Roads, eine sehr einzigartige Umgebung ist und ein Ort, an dem nicht viele Wrestler in ihrer Karriere jemals wrestlen werden. Das war eine sehr coole Erfahrung, aber mein Favorit wird wahrscheinlich immer Japan sein.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Du bist auch für Kämpfe zwischen den Geschlechtern bekannt, unter anderem durch deine Matches mit Daniel Garcia oder Wheeler Yuta.
Ist das etwas, das dich generell interessiert?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Auf jeden Fall! Ursprünglich wurde ich fast ausschließlich von Männern trainiert, also ist das Wrestling zwischen den Geschlechtern wahrscheinlich der Stil, mit dem ich mich am wohlsten fühle. Intergender Wrestling hat mir immer sehr viel Spaß gemacht und ich wollte als eine der Besten in diesem Bereich bekannt werden. Und ich denke, wenn ich es nicht schon bin, dann komme ich dem Ziel langsam näher, vor allem, weil ich in ein paar Wochen Kämpfe gegen Chris Dickinson und Biff Busick habe.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Gehen wir einen Schritt weiter zu Death Matches, oder genauer gesagt, Death Turnieren. Ist das eine Sache, die dich reizt?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Definitiv, ich denke, meine Beteiligung an Hardcore- und Deathmatches ist für niemanden ein Geheimnis, und man kann sogar bis vor zwei Wochen zurückblicken. Akira und ich haben bei ICW, No Holds Barred und Pitfighter X10 gerungen. Und weißt du, wir haben uns unter anderem mit ein paar Knotenblechen, Messern und Kettensägen ein wenig ausgetobt. Ich glaube einfach fest daran, dass es wichtig ist, vielseitig zu sein und jede Art von Handwerk im professionellen Wrestling zu beherrschen. Ich denke, das ist eines meiner Ziele. Warum nicht alles machen? Warum nicht in allem gut sein?
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Ich hoffe, dass wir bald ein paar mehr Facetten von dir und deinem Charakter im Impact sehen können.
Denn, wie ich gesehen habe, wurdest du in letzter Zeit fast nur in Squash-Matches gebucht. Was ist denn deine Meinung zu diesen sehr dominanten Auftritten?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Ich denke, es sollte ein Beispiel für den Rest des Impact Rosters sein, und jeder, der Impact schaut, weiß genau, wozu ich auf der Bühne und dem Niveau fähig bin auf, dem ich mich befinde.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Welche der Matches, die du bis jetzt auf Impact TV hattest, würdest du unseren Zuschauern und Lesern empfehlen, auf YouTube oder vielleicht auf Impact Plus zu schauen?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Auf jeden Fall mein Match gegen Deonna beim Knockouts Knockdown im Jahr 2021. Wahrscheinlich eines meiner Lieblingsmatches, das ich je bestritten habe. Ich habe es sehr genossen. Ich denke, jeder sollte es sich ansehen.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Da Impact insbesondere für seine starke Knockouts-Division bekannt ist, waren Sie früher selbst ein Fan? Hast du Idole aus der Impact-Geschichte?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Ich habe definitiv früher Impact geschaut. Damals, als es noch TNA hieß, habe ich mir viel von der Ultimate X Division angesehen. Zu meinen Favoriten zählten Amazing Red, AJ Styles und Low Ki. Das waren damals einige unglaubliche Kämpfe.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Wie du schon gesagt hast, TNA ist für mich das Gleiche. Jeder in Deutschland ist so, als wüsste er, was das ist, wenn man TNA sagt. Tolle Zeiten, tolle Zeiten! Was ich auch über dich erfahren habe, ist, dass Thunder Rosa und du sehr gleich gesinnt seid, wenn es darum geht, wie Wrestling für euch sein sollte. Würdest du sagen, dass sie einen großen Einfluss auf deine Karriere hatte? Oder gibt es andere, die du als Inspiration oder Idol für dich nennen würdest?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Die meisten meiner Idole sind Leute wie The Dynamite Kid. Thunder Rose ist ein unglaublicher Kämpfer. Ich hatte das Vergnügen, letztes Jahr bei der Texas Wrestling League gegen sie anzutreten, und ich würde sicher gerne wieder gegen sie antreten. Ich denke, Thunder Rose ist insgesamt ausgezeichnet.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Ja, das werden wir hoffentlich sehen. Ich würde zahlen, um das zu sehen. Was sind deine Ziele im Impact, da du eine wirklich starke Einführung oder Wiedereinführung nach dieser zweijährigen Abwesenheit gemacht hast.
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Mein Ziel ist es, das Impact-Roster komplett zu dominieren und an die Spitze zu kommen. Die Männer, die Frauen, alle. Niemand ist sicher, egal, wer wrestlen möchte. Es gibt einen Ring. Steigen wir ein und tragen wir ein Match aus. Lasst uns kämpfen.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Vor allem auf Instagram zeigst du deinen Fans ein wenig von Masha außerhalb des Rings und ich habe gehört, dass du deine In-Ring-Gear selbst entwirfst. Woher hast du die Inspiration? Hast du gelernt zu Schneidern, oder war das alles Schritt für Schritt auf dem Weg?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Ich mache meine Klamotten eigentlich nicht selbst. Ich habe einen Schneider, eine Näherin, die das für mich macht, aber ich zeichne und entwerfe meine gesamte Ausrüstung selbst. Ich lasse mich einfach von Wrestlern inspirieren, deren Klamotten mir gefallen, oder ich habe mich, wie gesagt, von Dynamite Kid inspirieren lassen. Es gab Klamotten, die eine Hommage an andere Wrestler waren. Und ich mag es, zu mischen und zu kombinieren. Ich nehme eine Idee von einer Ausrüstung und eine andere, und ich kombiniere sie und mache einen coolen Mix, den noch niemand gesehen hat.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Eine nette persönliche Frage an dieser Stelle. Hast du die Serie „Glow“ gesehen?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Ich glaube, das habe ich vor ein paar Jahren, ja.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Die Frisur, die du neulich getragen hast, hat mich sehr an die Hauptfigur dieser Serie erinnert, also dachte ich, du hast dich vielleicht inspirieren lassen, richtig?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Ja, ich habe mich da etwas inspirieren lassen.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Würdest du in Erwägung ziehen, eines Tages nach Japan zurückzugehen?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Auf jeden Fall weiß ich, dass ich eines Tages nach Japan zurückkehren kann und ich freue mich auf diesen Tag.

Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Ladies and gentlemen, it’s a pleasure for me to introduce you to the young lady you can see on the screen next to me. She’s a world traveler and famously known by her nickname, the Russian Dynamite Masha Slamovich! How are you today?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): I’m doing well, how are you?
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): I’m fine too, thanks. I know you’ve started your career in Japan, but how can I imagine your journey so far?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Until the point of me having my debut in Japan, I was training in New York for a year and a half with Johnny Rodz. Then I was sent over there to have my debut and go on my excursion. Between then and the year 2020, I was pretty much wrestling on the independent scene, mostly in places like Canada, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Russia, and of course, a little bit in the United States. During 2020 I would return to Japan for an entire year to wrestle and train at the Dojo with Chigusa Nagayo there. And of course, as you know, in 2021 I came back to the United States and the rest was history.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): How did you end up in impact? Where did the contact happen?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): The first time that I worked with Impact was back in 2019. I wrestled Jessica Havoc and then the next night I wrestled the singles with Jordynne grace, and we just parted ways since then until Mickie James chose me as the “pick your poison” match for Deonna at the last Knockouts knockdown. After the conclusion of that match, it came as a surprise to me, but Gail Kim came out to the ring and offered me a contract to Impact. Obviously, I accepted, and that’s how I ended up signing with Impact, you know? It all happened very quickly in the span of about 15 minutes.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): That’s like a dream come true, I guess.
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Definitely, you see it happen to other people, but you never think it’s going to be you.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): What I’m intrigued about since you’ve wrestled a lot in Japan. There is a difference, so in Japan they worship, or try to protect the aspect of kayfabe a little bit more than in the US. Did you have difficulties to adapt to it, for example if you’re going to the Supermarket and not trying to play the heel or something?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Uh, like you said, it’s definitely a little bit of a different culture over in Japan, but I didn’t really haven’t any trouble adapting to it because, like I said, my career started over there. It’s almost like the way they do it over there is the norm to me because that was my very first taste of professional wrestling.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): When you got back to the US did you have problems to act not in kayfabe?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): I mean, it did take me a little bit of time to kind of relax and not be as serious as we are over there with the Dojo lifestyle.
It took me a while to come into my groove and just kind of relax and start being the Masha Slamovich that everybody knows now.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Since we’ve already talked about, you’ve traveled the whole world, which was the most interesting place for you to be in or to wrestle in?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): I would have to say the most interesting would be northern Canada because the Winter death tour, like the ICE roads, is a very unique environment and not a place that many wrestlers ever end up getting to wrestle in their careers in general. That was a very cool experience, but my favorite is always probably going to have to be Japan.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): You’re also known for intergender matches, as you had ones with the likes of Daniel Garcia or Wheeler Yuta.
Is this something you’re intrigued about in general?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Absolutely! I was originally trained almost exclusively by men, so intergender wrestling is probably the style I’m most comfortable with. I very much always enjoyed intergender wrestling and wanted to be known as one of the best in that field. And I think I’m if not already there, then I’m slowly accomplishing the goal, especially since I’ve got matches like myself against Chris Dickinson and myself against Biff Busick coming up in a few weeks.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Going a step further to death matches, or to be specific, death tournaments. Is this a thing you would consider for yourself?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Definitely, I think my involvement in hardcore- and deathmatches is not a mystery to anybody, and you can look back as far as two weeks ago. Akira and I wrestled at ICW, No holds Barred and Pitfighter X10. And you know, we got a little froggy with some gusset plates, knives, and chainsaws, among other things. I’m just a huge believer in being versatile and being a master of every kind of craft in professional wrestling. So, I think that is one of my goals. Why not do everything? Why not be good at it all?
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): I hope we can see some more facets of yourself and your character in impact soon. Cause, as I’ve seen, you’ve lately been somewhat almost booked in a squash matches. So, what is your opinion on those very dominant performances?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): I think it should be an example to the rest of the impact roster, and everybody who watches Impact knows exactly what I’m capable of at the stage and level that I’m at.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Which of those matches you’ve had on Impact TV, until this date now, would you recommend to our viewers and readers to watch on YouTube or maybe on Impact Plus?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Definitely myself versus Deonna at the Knockouts Knockdown in 2021. One of my favorite matches I’ve ever wrestled, probably. I very much enjoyed it. I think everybody should watch it.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): As Impact is widely known for its strong Knockouts division, have you been a fan yourself in the earlier days? Do you have any idols from the Impact history?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): I definitely used to watch impact. You know, back when it was called TNA and I used to actually watch a whole lot of the Ultimate X division. My favorites being some like Amazing Red, AJ styles and Low-Ki. Those were some incredible matches back in the day.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): As you’ve said, TNA, it’s the same to me. Everybody in Germany is like they know what it is, if you say TNA. Great times, great times! What I’ve also learned about you is that Thunder Rosa and you are very like-minded in terms of how wrestling should be for you. Would you say she had a big influence on your career? Or are there any other ones you would mention to be like an inspiration or an Idol to you?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Most of my idols are the likes of people like the dynamite kid. Thunder Rose is an incredible competitor. I’ve actually had the pleasure of wrestling her last year at Texas Wrestling League, and I would certainly love to wrestle her again. I think Thunder Rose is excellent overall.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Yeah, hopefully we’ll see that. I’d to pay to watch this. What are your goals in impact as you made a really strong introduction or re-introduction after this Two-year absence.
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): My goal is to completely dominate and rise to the top of the Impact roster. The men, the women, everybody. Nobody save whoever wants to wrestle. There is a ring. Let’s get in it, and let’s have a match. Let’s fight.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Especially on your Instagram you show your fans a little bit of Masha outside the ring and I*ve heard you create and do all your tires and gears yourself. Where did you get the inspiration? Did you learn to sue and stuff or was it all step by step on the go?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): I don’t physically make my own gear. I have a gear maker, a seamstress, who does that for me, but I draw and design all of my own gear. I just take inspiration from, you know, wrestlers who I like their gear, or I’ve taken inspiration from, like I said, Dynamite Kid. There were gears that were homages to other wrestlers. And I like to mix and match. I’ll take one idea from one gear and take another one, and I’ll put them together and make a cool mix that no one’s ever seen before.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Did you watch the series glow?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): I believe I did a couple of years ago, yeah.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): The hairstyle you recently wore was really reminding me of the lead character of this series, so I thought you maybe got inspiration, right?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Yeah, I’ve got some inspiration from there.
Marko „Killcobain“ Welzenbach (Wrestling-Infos.de): Would you consider going back to Japan someday?
Masha Slamovich (IMPACT! Wrestling): Absolutely I know that one day I’ll be able to return to Japan and I look forward to that day.
