In der aktuellen Ausgabe des Wrestling Observer Newsletters war es wieder einmal so weit: Die Ergebnisse der alljährlichen Awards wurden veröffentlicht und die Gewinner der prestigeträchtigsten und vielleicht wichtigsten Jahresawards wurden bekannt gegeben.

Gewählt wird jedes Jahr von den WrestlingObserver/F4WOnline-Lesern, unter denen sich Fans, Experten/Journalisten und Wrestler befinden. Dies ist im Gegensatz zur PWI500 oder WWE’s Slammys keine Kayfabe-Wahl. In jeder A-Kategorie durften 5,3 und 2 Punkte für die Plätze 1,2 und 3 vergeben werden. (Bei den B-Kategorien konnte nur Platz 1 vergeben werden) Gewählt wurde Promotionübergreifend, wobei einige Kategorien in MMA und Pro-Wrestling getrennt wurden. In Klammern könnt ihr die Angabe der “Platz 1″ Wertungen sehen, während die Zahl dahinter die Gesamtpunktzahl darstellt. Bewertungszeitraum war 1. Dezember 2016 bis 30. November 2017!

    Als ich überall Walter als Wahlmöglichkeit für die Awards dieser Seite sah, dachte ich mir; was hat der Typ hier zu suchen? Nun wo ich die Wahlergebnisse des Observers sehe bin ich erleichtert. Ich weiß echt nicht was die Leute an den finden hier finden…

    „Wrestler des Jahres“ bezieht sich auf das Gesamtpaket. Leistungen im Ring, am Mic, Charisma, Bedeutung für das Business und die Promotion. „Bester Wrestler“ ist eben der beste In-Ring-Worker und „Bester Techniker“ der Wrestler, der die grundlegenden Aktionen im Ring technisch am Besten ausführt. Neben Techniker gibt es ja noch Awards für den „Brawler des Jahres“ und den „Highflyer des Jahres“. Du kannst auch als „Brawler“ oder „Highflyer“ der „beste Wrestler“ sein, musst dafür nicht der „beste Techniker“ sein, und du kannst „Wrestler des Jahres“ werden, auch wenn du nicht der „beste Wrestler“ bist.
