In der aktuellen Ausgabe des Wrestling Observer Newsletters war es wieder einmal so weit: Die Ergebnisse der alljährlichen Awards wurden veröffentlicht und die Gewinner der prestigeträchtigsten und vielleicht wichtigsten Jahresawards wurden bekannt gegeben.

Gewählt wird jedes Jahr von den WrestlingObserver/F4WOnline-Lesern, unter denen sich Fans, Experten/Journalisten und Wrestler befinden. Dies ist im Gegensatz zur PWI500 oder WWE’s Slammys keine Kayfabe-Wahl. In jeder A-Kategorie durften 5,3 und 2 Punkte für die Plätze 1,2 und 3 vergeben werden. (Bei den B-Kategorien konnte nur Platz 1 vergeben werden) Gewählt wurde Promotionübergreifend, wobei einige Kategorien in MMA und Pro-Wrestling getrennt wurden. In Klammern könnt ihr die Angabe der “Platz 1″ Wertungen sehen, während die Zahl dahinter die Gesamtpunktzahl darstellt. Bewertungszeitraum war 1. Dezember 2015 bis 30. November 2016!

    Ein paar Ergebnissen stimme ich trotz nur rudimentärer Kenntnisse zu. Vor allem was die über- und unterschätzten Stars anbelangt…wie lange sich das rusev und cesaro in der wwe noch antun bspw.
    The Miz hat sich meiner Meinung nach nicht verbessert, sondern war auch schon bei seiner Fehde mit John Cena 2011 oder so vor allem am Mikrofon saustark. Das tritt nur jetzt wieder offen zu tage, da das Roster bei SD relativ dünne ist und die Schreiber offenbar der Kreativitätsflaute Hollywoods unterliegen.

    Conor McGregor hat das Pro Wrestling Business hier teilweise echt rasiert! „Most Charismatic“, „Best on Interviews“ und „Best Box Office Draw“ … das sind eigentlich genau die Kategorien, in denen das Wrestling aktuell Probleme hat. Es fehlen einfach die großen Stars, die die Massen zum Einschalten bewegen.

    Ich finde das ist einzige und allein die Schuld der WWE.
    Es ist nicht so, dass man keine charismatischen Wrestler hat. Das beste Beispiel ist Wyatt, er hat Charisma, am Mic gehört er zu den besten, und In-Ring Skills hat er auch. Wenn man statt Reigns, Wyatt so sehr pushen würde, wäre er jetzt schon DER Megastar überhaupt, mit einer Attitude vom Undertaker und den Mic-Skills eines The Rock.
